The Journey
KiDi discovered his passion for music after completing Accra Academy Senior High School and actively pursued this passion while at the University of Ghana (Legon), where he studied Economics & Information Studies. The determination he invested in the quest of his passion paid off in 2015 when he won the MTN Hit Maker competition, and a recording deal with Ghana’s award-winning Record Label, Lynx Entertainment.
KiDi has since then relentlessly released timeless songs and hit singles after single; ‘Say You Love Me’, ‘Odo’, ‘Adiepena’, and ‘Thunder’ just to name a few. His 2020 smash hits, ‘Say Cheese’ and ‘Enjoyment’ led to his recognition by BBC as one of the Ten African Music Stars to Look Out For in 2021. He has indeed proven to be the latter from before 2021 till date:
The Golden Boy
KiDi has received several nominations for awards across and beyond Ghana. He won the ‘Highlife Song of the Year’ Award for ‘ODO’ at the 2018 Ghana Music Awards, ‘Male Vocalist of the Year’ at the 2019 Awards, ‘Album of the Year’ for his debut album ‘Sugar’ at the 2020 Awards, and the 2020 ‘Artist of the Year’ at Ghana’s 3Music Awards. He also won 4 major awards at the 2021 Ghana Music Awards for ‘Afrobeats Artist of the Year’, ‘EP of the Year’, ‘Highlife Song of the Year’ for Enjoyment, and ‘Afrobeats Song of the Year’ for Say Cheese. He was crowned ‘Artist of the Year’ at the 2022 Ghana Music Awards, along with 4 other major awards Album of the Year, Video of the Year, Afrobeats/Afropop Artiste, Best Reggae/Dancehall Song of the Year, and Most Popular Song of The Year!
2023 began with his first single release I Lied, followed by Likor with Stonebwoy, garnering over 1 Million streams and still counting. The year ended with his much talked about, unforgettable and epic live show, Likor on The Beach. 2024 had barely begun when he released his first single, Danger, which has done and is doing what music from The Golden Boy does to fans all over the world!
Ghana and the world beyond will have to sit tight for what more he has up his sleeve!
